Graphics
Websites
- I have found Dmitry's Design Lab to be an excellent source of inspiration. Although his notes are not specifically targeted to web graphics, he presents ways to think about graphics and means to come up with ideas. Not being formally trained in graphics design, I can sometimes have a difficult time gathering ideas.
- Wendy Peck's graphics columns are geared towards website graphics and also have been a source of great inspiration for me.
- My favourite colour picker is the colorlab at Visibone.com. From this site, you can also purchase hardcopy versions of the colour picker as well as HTML and CSS reference cards.
Books
Given that my favourite suite of graphic illustration software is CorelDRAW/Photo-Paint, the only two books I own are both about how to use CorelDRAW and Corel Photo-Paint.
- The CorelDRAW Bible (links to Chapters.com) is an excellent book for the beginner and intermediate user. I find that the tools and the layout of the program makes it one of the easier to learn and to use yet is just as powerful as other software.
- The other book is Corel Photo-Paint: The Official Guide (links to Chapters.com) which again is a great book for the beginner to intermediate user.
